M100 is a smart and flexible 12V battery charger and one of the newest members in CTEKs new Marine line. It satisfies the need of battery care in the marine environment for 14225Ah batteries and even AGM batteries. M100 has a special Recond mode which can recover a stratified battery and therefore give the battery a longer life. This is perfect for the rough condition of the marine environment as boat batteries often becomes deeply discharged causing stratification. The Supply function is used as a power source. M100 delivers 7A, is IP65 classed and follows the CTEK criteria: both charges and maintains, no harmful galvanic currents, reverse polarity protected, sparkfree, rain and splash proof, electrical equipment will not be damaged and has a 5 year warranty.
Safety
» Electronic safe, the charger will not damage vehicle electronics. The battery does not normally need to be disconnected from the vehicle when charging.
» Minimal gas buildup and a patentpending spark protection system. (however, in supply mode the spark free feature is disconnected).
» Short circuit and reverse polarity protected.
» Double insulation.
» Splash and dust proof (IP65) and approved for outdoor use.
» Progressive temperature protection.
» Tested and approved by Intertec SEMKO AB. Smarked and conforms to the following standards: EN 603351, EN 60335229, EN 6100032, EN 6100033, EN550141.
Charging
The M100 has a fully automatic, eight step charge:
» Desulphation
Desulphation with pulsing for sulphated batteries.
» Start
Starting phase for charging. The starting phase continues until the battery's terminal voltage has risen over a preset level. At this point, charging goes into the bulk phase. If the terminal voltage has not reached the preset level within a preset time, charging is suspended. The error mode is indicated. This indicates a battery which is faulty or has too large capacity. If a large battery is charged that has been severely discharged, it may be necessary to restart the charger after a preset time.
» Bulk
Primary charging where approximately 80 percent of the charging takes place. The charger delivers maximum current until the terminal voltage has risen to the preset level. After a number of hours, the charger goes on to the next phase, even if maximum voltage is not reached.
» Absorption
Final charging, voltage is kept at the preset level. During this phase, the current is gradually reduced. If the maximum length of time for Absorption is exceeded, the charger automatically continues with Analysis.
» Analysis
Charging is suspended for a short period and the battery voltage measured. If it falls too quickly, the battery is probably faulty. Charging is suspended and an error is indicated.
» Recond
Recond is used to recover severely discharged flooded batteries and for reconditioning severely discharged batteries suffering from stratification. The voltage increases with reduced current for a limited time period (depending on the charge level of the battery at start). The higher voltage starts some gassing and mixing of the acid, which is beneficial for both battery capacity and expected life. The battery could emit explosive gas during this step.
» Maintenance charging float
During the first 10 days of maintenance charging the battery is maintained with constant voltage.
» Maintenance charging pulse
State of charge varies between 95 percent and 100 percent. The battery receives a pulse when the voltage sinks, keeping the battery in good shape when it is not being used. The charger can be connected for months at a time. If the battery is charged and/or the battery's terminal voltage drops, the charger starts a charge pulse until the voltage has reached the preset level. The charge pulse is then interrupted and the cycle is repeated as long as the charger is in pulse maintenance phase. If the terminal voltage drops even lower, the charger automatically reverts to the beginning of the charging curve. If possible, check the water level in the battery.
Using the M100 gives your battery an optimum service life and operational reliability.
Batteries
The M100 can be set very easily to charge different types of leadacid batteries (Wet, MF, GEL, Calcium/Calcium and AGM) and conditions.
The M100 charges a wide range of battery sizes, from 14Ah to 225Ah.
Temperature
To protect the charger from overheating, the M100 is fitted with power limitation. The power reduces when the ambient temperature increases. The power also reduces if the charger were to be covered, which protects the charger from damage. The charger continues to work, but at a lower output. When the ambient temperature drops, the power automatically increases again.

) Back current drain is what drains the battery if the charger is connected without the power cord connected.
) Ripple denotes the amount of interference there is to the current and voltage. A high current ripple heats the battery and shortens its life. A linear charger has a current ripple of 70 400 percent which is much larger than the maximum 5 percent for a modern sealed battery. Voltage ripple could harm other equipment, which is connected to the battery. The M100 delivers voltage and current with very low ripple. The battery gains a long service life and there is no risk of damage to other electronic devices connected to the battery.
Mounting
The charger is easily fitted in place using two screws. The diameter of the mounting holes is 4.5mm
Equipment
The M100 is delivered with two different battery leads, one with clamps and one with eyelet terminals, all colour coded for easy +/- identification.
If the battery is difficult to access, the lead with eyelet terminals can be mounted to the battery, and the quick connectors are located so that it is easily reached for charging.
You can also purchase additional leads allowing you to have one lead with eyelet terminals fixed to all your vehicles with batteries that are difficult to get at, and charge them simply from the same charger.
